DuPage Welcomes Immigrant Freedom Riders

Join Immigrant Solidarity DuPage and our allies this Labor Day weekend as we continue to push the worldwide immigrant justice movement forward hosting the Immigrant Freedom Ride project in DuPage County. The Immigrant Freedom Rides, based on the 1960s Civil Rights Movement tactic will bring immigrant rights activists from Cook County to DuPage County and other stops around Chicagoland struggling for Legalization for this nations... 11 million undocumented immigrant laborers.

We invite you to the DuPage reception for the Freedom Riders this Friday evening, Sept 3 at 8pm at St. Margaret Mary Parish, 1450 Green Trails Dr, Naperville, IL. Here local community leaders, clergy members and musicians will be welcoming the riders to DuPage County while discussing our work and mission locally. Followed by a communal dinner to which all our invited at 9pm, Riders will sleep at St. Margaret Mary and awaken the next morning for a community march and rally at the DuPage County Courthouse at 10am in Wheaton. The march and rally will be calling for Legalization for All and a Suspension of the 150 deportations weekly in DuPage County with the Secure Communities Program (see below for itinerary.)

7:00-7:30pm: Arrive at St. Margaret Mary Parish, 1450 Green Trails Dr., Naperville, IL

8:00pm: Welcoming Reception with music and speakers from Immigrant Solidarity DuPage and DuPage Community Leaders

8:30pm: Dinner at St. Margaret Mary Parish

9:30-10:00pm: Retire to Sleep

8:00am: Breakfast at St. Margaret Mary Parish

9:15am: Depart St. Margaret Mary Parish

9:45am: Arrive at Dupage County Courthouse, 421 S. County Farm Rd., Wheaton, IL

10:00am: Rally at the County Courthouse: Stop the 150 Deportations weekly in DuPage/Legalization for All! Meeting with Sheriff John Zaruba?

10:20am: Step-Off 1/2 Mile March South on County Farm Rd. and East on Roosevelt Rd. to Marianjoy (Franciscan Sisters) Campus for a short vigil.

10:45am: March back to DuPage County Courthouse Complex for closing remarks and distribution of sacked lunches.

11:00am: Freedom Riders will depart Dupage toward Joliet
